Seeking Community Input in Superintendent Search
The Board of Education gave direction at its February 13 meeting to seek feedback on the type of superintendent the community wants to lead Derby Public Schools. The Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) will be assisting our district in gathering public input. KASB will conduct a series of characteristics focus group sessions with the community, students, teachers, classified staff and administration to obtain input on what others view as desirable traits of the new leader. KASB has also provided an online survey that will open from 9:00PM on February 13 and close at midnight February 19.

Principal's Message

youngEach Tuesday is our Wineteer blue spirit day. Students can wear any type of blue clothing to represent our school's colors. Another special shirt you may see staff wearing shows our new school theme. Wineteer is the place to "BE". We selected this theme because we want to inspire students to be a friend, be respectful, be helpful. This theme is continued with class meetings on Tuesdays to model social skills and self-control with Second Step, an addition to our social studies curriculum. Lastly, on the bottom of the shirt you will see #WineteerStrong. This represents our Thunderbird pride that soars when faced with great challenges. We want to model resiliency and problem solving to meet new challenges in learning and in life. These skills taught and modeled will build a great foundation for the future of your child.
